Support a powerful
democratic labor movement
75 years ago in San Francisco, in the heat of the 1934 General Strike, the nation's first healthcare workers' union was born. Tens of thousands of caregivers across California are continuing this legacy by organizing the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW). They have stood up for justice and democracy, and against sweetheart deals by officials of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) that threatened their jobs, their patients, and their future. Now they are under attack. SEIU officials have launched an aggressive campaign to stop these caregivers from exercising their free choice to form their own member-led union, NUHW. SEIU has hired dozens of lawyers to block union elections and to intimidate twenty-six elected union leaders and organizers with a harassing lawsuit. Funds raised will support the legal defense of these twenty-six union activists who have dedicated many decades to building power for working people and making progressive change in our communities.

The Fund for Union Democracy & Reform was established to strengthen the labor movement by strengthening workers' voices in their unions. Now more than ever, to build the solidarity and the strength necessary to hold corporate interests accountable to workers and communities, unions must be models of democracy where members can develop and pursue their own visions for justice on the job and in society. The Fund is dedicated to promoting values and supporting struggles that will build workers' power by maximizing workers' participation in the decisions that guide their unions and affect their lives.

Contributions to the Fund are not tax deductible. All contributors shall remain anonymous. The Fund does not accept contributions from healthcare employers.
